Charles E. Brunger, 92, of Baldwinsville, got kicked upstairs for good on June 26, 2016. Born and raised in Oswego, he served with the US Navy during WWII and worked as an engineer with the New York State Canal System for 32 years. In the ’80s, he became a volunteer EMT and later a driver with the ambulance corps. He was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Baldwinsville, where he was the head usher for many years. His wife of 48 years, Miildred Vincent Brunger predeceased him in 2000. He is survived by his son, Lawrence, and daughters Nancy Elizabeth Knauss (Steve) of Tampa and Amy Brunger Lago (Scott Kallstrom) of Liverpool, his sister Linda Bianchi, his grandchildren Daniel Knauss (Morgan) and Amanda Couch (Michael) and four great grandchildren.
Services will be private, and at his request, there will be no calling hours. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps. Gates Funeral Home Inc., Baldwinsville has care of arrangements.
