VILLAGE OF LIVERPOOL – Liverpool Police Chief Jerry Unger reports that an arrest has been made in the recent burglary investigations.
On Friday, Feb. 4, at approximately 2:29 a.m., Patrol Officer Taylor Zinter responded to an alarm at Freedom of Espresso coffeehouse, located at 403 First St.
Upon his arrival, Zinter advised the 911 Center that he saw an open window at his location.
As Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they followed fresh footprints in the snow that led from the open window.
Officers found a male walking on the East Shore Trail of the Onondaga Lake Park. When officers approached to suspect, a foot chase ensued. The suspect was caught a short distance away and was identified as a 16-year-old male from Liverpool.
During questioning, the suspect verbally admitted to LPD Det. Robert Marshall that he previously broke into The Cobblestone Ale House, located at 400 First St., on Jan. 23.
The juvenile suspect was set to be arraigned Feb. 4 in Youth Court for two counts of burglary in the third degree, a class D Felony, and criminal mischief also in the third degree, a class E Felony.
After further investigation of the attempted burglary at Freedom of Espresso on Jan. 23, it has been determined that no entry was made.
Security video from the Cobblestone incident showed two intruders at the scene, and investigators continue to search for that second suspect.
Chief Unger said he appreciates the outpouring of information from village residents and would like anyone with any further information to call the LPD at 315-457-0722.
