SKANEATELES — The Skaneateles Area Arts Council (SKARTS) announced the 10 winners of its 2022 grant awards for art and cultural activities.
“Thanks to generous community support, we were able to provide grants to 10 of the applicants representing a diverse range of worthy projects and important needs,” said Laurel Moranz, president of SKARTS.
The SKARTS 2022 grantees include Cayuga Museum of History and Art, E. John Gavras Center, Harriet Tubman Boosters, Otisco Lake Community Association (OLCA), Schweinfurth Art Center, Seward House Museum, Skaneateles Community Band, Skaneateles Library, Skaneateles Nursery School and The Barrow Art Gallery.
“Our supporters and friends came forward to help us fund the grants program even though we could not have our 2021 art show fundraiser,” Moranz said. “This year the Skaneateles Area Arts Council will present an evening of art, music, and friends – The fifth Art4Skarts Juried Art Show and Sale. An opening reception will be held on Thursday evening, Sept. 15 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Cayuga Museum of History & Art in Auburn, New York. The exhibit and sale will continue during museum hours until Saturday, Sept. 24.”
Moranz also reports that the new Art4Skarts event will feature Barbara Delmonico, a local artist, who is an accomplished painter working in a variety of mediums. SKARTS is honoring her for outstanding talent and for her dedication to the arts. Also, many other artists within a 15-mile radius of Skaneateles have submitted their artwork for the show including painting, sculpture, metal, glass, wood and fiber. Artists’ entries were juried by Regina Lewis-Middleton, an artist and textile conservator.
All of the artwork on display at the Art4Skarts show is for sale.
“With so many talented artists’ work on display, it will be an exciting event for all,” Moranz said. “We hope everyone will come to see the new location, enjoy refreshments, music, art and conversation. We are so thankful for the artists’ interest and support of this event.”
Tickets for the opening reception are $60 per person and may be purchased at www.art4skarts.org/events, or at the door on the day of the event. Sponsorships of the event are also available. All proceeds from Art4Skarts go to the SKARTS Grants Program.
