Otisco Lake Preservation Association (OLPA) and Otisco Lake Community Association (OLCA) are combining again this year to plan an Earth Day Clean-up & Open House event on Saturday April 23 beginning at 9 a.m.
For the last nine years OLPA has coordinated an Earth Day event with support by the local chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
The cleanup will kick off the day, as volunteers can walk along the street picking up trash from the winter months, protecting it from tainting the watershed and possibly entering the lake.
The OLCA continues to advance innovative programs & events through the Community Center at 2223 Amber Rd., Amber.
Check out their website at OtiscoLakeCC.org.
Once again this year, the ACS is sponsoring a pizza lunch after the cleanup.
Sissy’s Pizza on Otisco Valley Road in Marietta will supply pizza.
Volunteers can gather at 9 a.m. at the community center so teams for the cleanup can be formed.
Cleanup will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until about 11:30 a.m.
The group will then meet back at the community center for lunch.
Event will be held rain or shine.
All are welcome.
Garbage bags and reflective vests will be provided for volunteers.
It is recommended that volunteers bring gloves and any tools they believe they may need for the cleanup.
All garbage collected will be delivered to an OCCRA location for disposal.
Information on the event can be obtained from the OLPA website at otiscolakepreservation.org.
Also Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary Club will host a clean up the Charlie Major Nature Trail Saturday April 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Volunteers can meet at the playground area at the north end of the trail.
Bags will be provided.
