Introduction to Fly Tying with Jim Dewan. FOUR WEDNESDAY SESSIONS:
Feb. 14, Feb. 28, March 14 and March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.
One time registration under the Feb. 14 date is for all four sessions. Space is limited. Jim will start out teaching the most basic ties and work his way up to more a complex series of ties over the course of the four sessions. You will learn about the tools and procedures required to construct high quality ties. And of course, you’ll take the finished products home with you. Marcellus Free Library Trivia Night hosted by Jake Widrick at the Lakeside Vista Restaurant located at 2437 Route 174, Marietta, NY on Thursday, Feb. 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. Please make reservations early at 315-636-1083. All ages welcome and it’s free to play. The maximum number of participants for each team is six people. There will be prizes for the winning team. Food, beer, and fun!
Food For Thought Cookbook Club on Thursday, Feb. 22, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Love to cook and talk about food? Love to look through cookbooks? Each month we will choose a theme or a book and each person will bring a prepared dish to share and the cookbook that inspired the recipe. For February, please bring something chocolate or sweets to share in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and the cookbook you found the recipe in. The library will supply beverages.
Friends of the Marcellus Free Library Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. in the Friends Community Room. Come help the Friends celebrate their 50th Anniversary! For lunch, members have been asked to choose and provide an item from a “special menu.” An afternoon tea will also be provided. Our program this month will be HobNob 2.0. To celebrate February being “Library Lovers Month” and our 50th anniversary, the Friends will be hosting Lebanese chef Julie Taboulie on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. Also during the month of February, a free pair of tickets to the Rosamond Gifford Lecture Series to see Evan Osnos on April 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. will be raffled. He is the author of “Age of Ambition” (he specializes in politics and foreign affairs). The drawing will take place on Feb. 28. Come to the library to sign-up for a chance to see Evan Osos Feb. 1 through the 28th.

Outdoor Life Learners presents Nature Kids Yoga. Monday, Feb. 12, and Monday, Feb. 26, 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. for3 to 4 year olds. “All in” call for 3 to 4 year olds Carrie Empie from Outdoor Life Learners kids yoga workshop at the Marcellus Free Library in February. Hold off on your afternoon naps and relax with Carrie for an hour long nature yoga session. Her style of kids yoga focuses on moments of stillness, breath control, self-awareness and safe age-appropriate alignment! Your child will walk away feeling energized, peaceful and refreshed! Puzzlemania! For kids of all ages. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1 to 3 p.m.
A Winter Break Concert for Families with entertainer Ken Harms. Sponsored by Marcellus Parks and Recreation at the Marcellus Library Thursday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Friends Community Room. Ken Harms started entertaining children over 20 years ago, to pay for a puppy for his family! Join us for a special hour filled with songs and entertainment for children of all ages. Sponsored by the Marcellus Parks and Recreation Department and hosted by the Marcellus Library.
The February Artist is John Mariani, Landscapes. His show may be viewed during regular library hours. The public is cordially invited to an art reception for John on Sunday, Feb. 11 from 3 to 5 pm.
Save the date! The Masterworks Chorale Chamber Singers will be performing at the Marcellus Free Library on Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m.
