State Police in Elbridge arrested William D. Smith, age 42, from 215 Chamberlain Road in Jordan,NY on the following charges:
- Felony DWI, a class “D” felony (having 3 prior DWI convictions in 15 years)
- Resisting Arrest, a class “A” misdemeanor
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, a class “E” felony
On Friday, September 2, 2016, at approximately 10:44pm, a State Police patrol unit was southbound on Jordan Road in the Town of Elbridge when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was observed crossing the center line several times. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle however, the operator of the Silverado failed to comply. The driver continued eastbound on State Route 5 and finally stopped in the parking lot of the Elbridge Motel. The operator of the Silverado, William D. Smith refused to exit his vehicle and began to physically resist. Smith was eventually taken into custody and was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital for minor facial injuries.
Smith was arraigned in the Town of Elbridge Court and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail. He is scheduled to appear back in court on September 10, 2016 at 12:00 pm for a preliminary hearing.
