Baltimore Woods Nature Center plans 5K Trail Run to celebrate 50th Anniversary
On Sunday, Aug. 21, Baltimore Woods will host a 5k Trail Run in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Marcellus based nature center.
The run is slated to begin at 9 a.m. A 1k fun run will also be held at 8:45 a.m.
The cost to enter is $25 per runner for registrations received before Aug. 15.
After this date, the cost will be $30 per runner and registrations can be made at the registration table.
The fun run is free to children ages eight and younger, no pre-registration is required.
This family-friendly, healthy event features a challenging cross-country style 5k trail run, hikers are also welcome to register, and a 1K Kids Fun Run showcasing this hidden gem in Central New York.
After the race, there will be refreshments and a celebration of the top three male and female finishers.
Due to the uneven terrain of the course, this race is not certified and approximately 2.9 miles.
The race is sponsored in part by Wegmans and all proceeds benefit Baltimore Woods Nature Center in its mission to provide place-based education by cultivating an abiding love for the natural world, while serving as a model of sensible stewardship.
Baltimore Woods Nature Center is located at 4007 Bishop Hill Road, Marcellus.
Hours: Interpretive Center is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sundays.
The hiking trails and parking are free and open every day from dawn to dusk. In addition to public programs and nature day camps held on-site, Baltimore Woods’ Nature in the City program brings authentic natural science learning to K-6 grade urban school children in the Syracuse City Schools.
