Despite Mother Nature’s efforts, we all know the warm, welcoming days of spring will be popping up soon to stay. With the arrival of spring come garage sales and perfect opportunities to start trekking the streets of your community for treasures.
The Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse will host one of the first of these sales on Saturday, May 4. Hailed as the Treasures in your Trunk sale, community members are invited to fill their “trunks” with any unwanted treasures then park it at the museum for the day to sell the treasures, rain or shine.
“This is an easy way for people to have a garage sale without the hassle of advertising it,” said Connie Taft, who is organizing the event.
Sedans, trucks and vans are all welcome. There is a $10 fee for participants to rent a 10- by 12-foot space from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the day of the event. Junk in the Trunk sale
The trunk sale continues down the road from the museum at Canton Woods Senior Center, where a Junk in the Trunk sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the same day (Saturday, May 4, at the center, 76 Canton St., Baldwinsville).
In addition to traditional garage sale paraphernalia, appraisals will be offered by Edward D. Becker, Jr., owner of Colony Shop Antiques & Art in Fayetteville, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of the event on a walk-in basis. Appraisal costs are $3 for one item or $5 for two items. Since 1974, Becker, Jr., has continually engaged in the appraisal and sales of residential contents, antiques, fine arts, collectables and other items normally found in a residence.
Run on a first-come, first-served basis, this event also allows vendors to sell items out of the trunk of vehicles. Vendors may not sell weapons, ammunition, food or drink items and must leave spots clean and free of debris at the event’s conclusion.
