Drs. John Callahan, Thomas Flanagan and Vincent Smith are going green.
For 40 years, the longtime Fayetteville orthodontists have worked in an early 20th century building located on North Manlius Street. By summer, they’ll be working out of a contemporary facility almost triple the size they work in now, from approximately 1,200 to 3,400 square feet. The difference will enable employees in the business office, now located across the street in a separate building, to finally join them under one roof. And the final product will be environmentally sound.
Builders Zausmer Frisch Scruton & Aggarwal, based in Syracuse, will use sustainable materials in the wood products, ceiling tiles, concrete and sheet rock, Flanagan said, as well as rural water plumbing fixtures. Additionally, construction will include energy efficient mechanical systems for heating and cooling and Energy Star lighting fixtures. Through their efforts, Flanagan said the three will save an enormous amount to the thermal envelope.
A ceremonial groundbreaking was held a few weeks ago; demolition begins this week.
“I’ve been in this office for 23 years now,” he said. “It will be a little sad to move but I’m excited for a new facility.”
The new facility, expected to be complete next spring, is located at 402/404 East Genesee St. in Fayetteville.
