When it counted the most, the Cicero-North Syracuse indoor track and field teams delivered a Section III Class AA championship Monday night at Manley Field House. The Northstars earned 109 points, well ahead of Rome Free Academy (61 points), who prevailed in a close battle for second place. Jasmine Thompson began her day by taking the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.70 seconds. She also finished second in the long jump, going 16 feet 9 3/4 inches, and took third in the high jump by clearing 5 feet 1 inches as Gina Campagna (5 feet) finished fourth. Alana Hotchkiss prevailed in the triple jump, going 34 feet 10 1/4 inches, while Campagna got second place in the pole vault by clearing 8 feet. Casey Wilmer (32 feet 4 1/2 inches) and Valerie Langevin (31 feet 3 inches) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the shot put. Pulling away in the 4×800 relay, the Northstars had Lindsay Raulli, Marissa Colburn, Katie Laris and Nicole Campagna post a time of 10:09.05, beating runner-up Baldwinsville by more than nine second. CNS also had a 1-2 finish in the 1,500-meter run, as Taylor Wendler won in a time of 5:02.21 and Dana Rinaldi finished second, in 5:07.20. Raulli finished second in the 1,000-meter run in 3:08.10 as Marissa Colburn finished third in 3:12.54. Campagna, for her part, was third in the 600-meter run in 1:42.94, as Wendler finished fourth in 10:51.83. Jamie Ryan, Brooke Binion, Chelsea Davidson and Katie Kennedy combined to take fourth in the 4×400 relay in 4:20.86.
