The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an early morning fire at a business in the Town of Onondaga.
At approximately 7:03 a.m. this morning, Sheriff’s Deputies along with firefighters from multiple fire departments responded to a reported fire inside a barn on the Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard property located at 2707 Route 80. Upon the arrival of emergency responders, heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the first and second floor windows of an apple barn. Deputies investigating the fire report that a grounds keeper discovered the fire when he arrived for work and call 911 immediately.
It took firefighters approximately one hour to extinguish the fire, which caused heavy damage to the barn.
Firefighters utilized portable water tanks to bring water to the scene due to the lack of fire hydrants in the rural
area.
No injuries were reported. Evidence Technicians along with Onondaga County Fire Investigators continue to
investigate the cause of the fire.
