Jean A. Porter, 84, of Cazenovia, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 2, 2016, at her home. She was born in Mexico, N.Y., a daughter to the late LaVerne and Ester Bennett Acome and grew up in Red Creek. Jean had worked at Comstock Foods in Red Creek and was the former Vice President of Ralph’s Diesel Service in Cazenovia. Jean was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed visiting Nashville with her husband and meeting country music superstars, loved all things Disney and collecting western boots.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ralph H. Porter, Sr. who died in 2012; three sisters, Estella Celso, Phyllis Goodsell and Carol VanDeusen; two brothers, Harlow and Melvin Acome.
Jean is survived by her children, David Porter of Syracuse, Darlene (Ronald) Pyer of Syracuse, Ralph “Skip” Porter, Jr. of Cazenovia and Michael (Bonnie) Porter of Chittenango, one brother, LaVerne (Norma) Acome, Jr. of Port Byron and one grandson.
There are no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Porter may be made to Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association, P.O. Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032.
