Baltimore Woods Nature Center, located at 4007 Bishop Hill Road in Marcellus, will be hosting their annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22 including a tree-planting event from 9 a.m. to noon and a free community celebration from noon to 4 p.m.
With a major stewardship project starting off the day and a family-friendly celebration event in the afternoon with games, demonstrations, guided hikes, and information booths, there will be activities for all ages.
Baltimore Woods invites everyone to spend the afternoon outside on the preserve and learn the many ways that they can “go all in with nature” by connecting with the natural world and learning different ways to steward our local ecosystems.
Visitors will find that they can discover the wonders of the natural world at a series of engaging activity stations including “migrating” as a bird through an obstacle course, making a pledge to the Earth at a selfie station, making a seed bomb to take home and plant, participating in citizen science, and more.
A scavenger hunt will also be set up with items hidden along the trails.
In addition to family-friendly games and activities in the afternoon, visitors can come earlier in the day to assist with a stewardship project in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon.
Participants of all ages are invited to take part in planting hundreds of trees that will restore agricultural fields to native habitat on the preserve.
This project will help improve habitats for both resident wildlife and visitors to the preserve to enjoy today and for generations to come.
The Baltimore Woods Earth Day Celebration is free for the community to attend, but online pre-registration is required.
