Cazenovia Welcomes Refugees (CWR) will celebrate World Refugee Day with an information booth at the Cazenovia Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.
The United Nations designates June 20 each year as “World Refugee Day,” an international observance dedicated to raising awareness of the millions of refugees worldwide. Communities mark the occasion in various ways.
CWR is collaborating with the Cazenovia Public Library to highlight their wonderful collection of books about refugees for children, youth and adults. A lists of books for all age groups will be available at the booth.
Also, visit the booth and take a “selfie” to post on social media, letting your friends and neighbors know that Cazenovia is indeed a community with a welcoming spirit. There will be signs in Spanish, English and Arabic so you can take a photo. The sign reads (in English): “No matter where you are from, we’re glad you’re our neighbor.”
