BALDWINSVILLE — The Baldwinsville Community Band returns to the stage Aug. 11 at Grace Episcopal Church for its first public concert since March 11, 2020.
The concert will last one hour and will feature “Music Around the World.” The program begins in the USA with “Emblem of Unity March” followed by “Go West,” which includes well-known Western themes such as “The Magnificent Seven” and “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.”
Next, travel to Norway with Edvard Grieg’s “March of the Trolls.” Then, it’s on to “Britannia,” featuring several English-based melodies. The journey continues with “Italian Holiday,” including famous tunes such as “Funiculi, Funicula” and “O, Solo Mio.”
Lastly in the world trip will be “El Choclo,” an Argentinian tango.
The band returns to the States with “Home Stretch,” LeRoy Anderson’s salute to horse racing, then a medley of Big Band tunes titled “Jump Swing Fever.” The program concludes with “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and if the audience wants an encore, the band is prepared.
