On Aug. 9, the Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) will present a scaled-down, socially distanced version of the annual Cazenovia Block Fest.
The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Lincklaen Street between Albany Street and the post office.
“When looking at doing this event this year we worked closely with the village,” said GCACC board member Barb Houghton of Community Bank, N.A. “Our intent was to have a safe, socially distanced Block Fest very different from years past. We just wanted to give something back to our community.”
This year’s event will feature a chicken barbeque and family friendly food from the Lincklaen House, treats from the “Lickety Split” ice cream truck, and music by the Ponytail James Band — back by popular demand.
“We will also have goody bags for kids provided by Community Bank, as well as cotton candy and helium balloons from the Summit Church free of charge,” added Houghton.
According to the GCACC, face mask requirements and social distancing protocols will be in effect.
“We will have sanitizing stations for all to use with tables socially distanced so people can enjoy the music,” said Houghton. “We hope people will enjoy the outside venue and support our local shops that are open that day.”
All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting GCACC events.
“This year’s Block Fest is another example of our community working hard to find creative ways to maintain local traditions in a safe manner,” said Village Mayor Kurt Wheeler. “It’s vital for our community to have events like this to look forward and maintain our spirit and unity. The organizers are to be commended for their efforts to plan a gathering that will be safe, flexible and enjoyable.”
