Madeline Albanese, a Manlius resident and student at The Dance Studio CNY, will represent the United States at the World Tap Championships in Riesa, Germany, in early December, as part of The American Tap Company.
The World Tap Championships are also known as “the Olympics of tap dance,” according to a release from the USA Tap Team. The team has dancers from dozens of states, all of whom had to audition for a place this past summer. The dancers will compete against tap dancers from more than 30 countries around the world.
Albanese has been training with the American Tap Company since her audition in August. She will perform with the Adult Division Team and a Small Group Team. The team is trained by Nancy Carberry, and her daughters Karen, Kelli and Kristina, at Nancy Chippendale’s Studio in Andover, Mass.
Albanese has been a student at The Dance Studio CNY since the age of two and began her tap training with Linda Bell, studio owner, at the age of four. She has won numerous awards and placements at local, regional and national competitions for her tap routines and continues to train and compete for TDS-CNY. She has also trained with NYC teacher, Aaron Tolson and is a member of his tap company, Speaking in Taps.
