All residents of Baldwinsville are invited to create a beautiful and unique design in chalk on their driveway or sidewalk to enter Baldwinsville Rotary’s Sidewalk Chalk Contest, going on now. This contest is open to all ages, with awards presented to groups categorized as elementary, age 13+ and family (when it’s a team effort).
Once the masterpiece is complete, snap a crystal-clear photo of the chalk art and submit it to the club online through the Baldwinsville Rotary Facebook page or their web site at BaldwinsvilleRotary.org, where you can find a link to the contest form. That’s not all though! Once submitted, participants will be asked to get their friends and family to vote for them to win the Community Choice Award, which earns them a $200 donation to their charity of choice. Voting will also be found on the Facebook page and website, open to everyone to submit entries and vote through Aug. 26, 2020.
“Our club is always looking for ways to give to charities that matter to our community and, given how much the idea of summer fun has changed this year, we wanted to do something that is entertaining for local families,” said event creator and Rotarian Sally Fedrizzi.
The club hopes that kids and families will have fun creating their chalk art and then campaigning to get the votes needed online to win money for a charity they care about.
“Individuals could make their art tie into the charity they want to support to perhaps draw in more votes and local businesses could even get in on the action with artwork representative of what they do,” Fedrizzi said.
The contest is limited to residents in the Baldwinsville School District and one entry per person. If you do not have a paved driveway or sidewalk at your home, you can contact the Rotary Club to request a space in the village where you will be permitted to place your artwork. At BaldwinsvilleRotary.org, you will find a page all about the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest that includes a form to submit your request for space.
The Baldwinsville Rotary Club is a community service organization that has been giving back to our community for more than 45 years. Our diverse group of members work together to raise money and find helpful ways to put it back into the community, through scholarships, donations to other organizations and implementing family programs like this contest. The club is also very social, having fun while working together for the greater good. Guests are encouraged to attend a virtual meeting and learn more. Visit BaldwinsvilleRotary.org for the meeting schedule and email [email protected] to request a link to attend a meeting online.
