SYRACUSE – Four meets into the season, the Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field ream remains perfect.
The Bees again turned back all of its challengers during Saturday’s morning session of the John Arcaro Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena, getting 125.5 points ahead of runner-up Jamesville-DeWitt’s 96 points.
Solomon Holden-Betts set the day’s tone as the 2022 state Class A cross country champion went nine minutes, 36.13 seconds in the 3,200-meter run to prevail. Noah Covert was fourth in 9:56.77.
Later, in the 1,000-meter run, Holden-Betts won again, his 2:39.99 topping the 2:41.92 from Auburn’s Keegan Brady as Jeff Ragonese (2:51.29) was sixth.
In the 4×800 relay, Ragonese, Zach Arria, Jack McAllister and Logan Hayes prevailed in 8:30.82, more than 10 seconds clear of Fayetteville-Manlius (8:41.59) in second place. Ryan Wilson got second in the 1,600-meter run in 4:41.53, with Paul Clark fourth in 4:55.60 and Logan Bolton eighth.
Moving to the 300-meter dash, B’ville went 1-2-3 as Brandon Levin claimed it in 37.67 seconds, Kaleb Paul was second in 37.81 and McAllister got third in 37.83.
Piling up points in the pole vault, the Bees saw Kyle Sheckler prevail by clearing 11 feet 6 inches. Grayson Brady was second, topping 10’6”, and Dylan Wirtheim topped 9’6” to get fourth place.
Paul won the 55-meter dash in 6.79 seconds chased by, among others, Anthony Noda (6.99) in fourth place. Logan Zapf was third in the triple jump, going 38’6″, and third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.71 seconds as Jonah Offredi (9.49) was sixth, with Zapf fifth in the long jump (17’9 3/4”).
Dimitri Ioannidis threw the shot put 41’3” for third place as Gibson Boudov was fifth with 40’10 1/4” and David Dobrowolski (39’9 3/4”) was seventh, but Dobrowolski improved to fourth in the weight throw with 45’11 1/2”. Griffin Killian topped 5”4” to tie for fifth in the high jump.
Offredi joined Levin, Noda and Adam Aviles for third in the 4×200 relay in 1:42.44, Aviles taking eighth in the long jump. In the 4×400 relay, William Cornell, Brayden Bolton, Nate Glidden and Kyle Sheckler were third in 3:49.22, with Arria fourth in the 600-meter run in 1:33.13 and Bolton eighth.
B’ville’s girls had a strong showing at the Arcaro meet, too, its 80 points only topped by Cazenovia’s 107 as Mia Pozzi won the 300, her time of 44.27 seconds clear of a pack that included Avamarie Davis (45.83) in fifth, and Sydney McKenney cleared 10’9” to dominate the pole vault.
Madison Kennedy, in 1:46.90, rose to second place in the 600 as Kamryn Barton finished 10th. Davis, Barton, Rachel Becker and Kelsey Dwyer were second (4:24.99) to J-D (4:21.43) in the 4×400 as Kennedy, Brianna Grosso, Clare Horan and Adrianna Orlando took third in the 4×800 in 10:52.98.
Sophia Cavalieri needed 5:30.14 to finish third at 1,500 meters as Yolanda Wei was fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:46.69. Julianna Gingrich had a fourth-place shot put toss of 29′ 1/4”, with Isabella Mitts (26’8 1/2”) beating out Gingrich (26’5”) for sixth in the weight throw and Paige Bohman 10th.
Mary Sabatino got sixth in the 1,000 in 3:30.71, with Orlando 10th. Pozzi took sixth in the 55 sprint in 7.79 seconds, with McKenney ninth as Anaiyah Johnson was 11th in the 55 hurdles. The Bees were sixth in the 4×200 in 2:03.74.
