ONONDAGA COUNTY – Going into last week’s action at 4-1 overall, the Cicero-North Syracuse Blue boys golf team suffered some setbacks.
The Northstars fell 207-216 to West Genesee Gold last Tuesday at Lakeshore Country Club, with Jack Wolanski’s nine-hole 40 beaten by the Wildcats’ Ryan Gill (38) and Ben Glass (39).
Drew Kippen had a 41, equaled by WG’s Jason Clifton, with Owen Zoanetti’s 43 ahead of a 44 from Sean Lawler and 45 from Kaeden Hacker. David Schmidt added a 46.
Rebounding a day later at Lakeshore Country Club, C-NS Blue routed Fayetteville-Manlius White 200-24, with Kippen matching par thanks to a 36.
Wolanski and Hacker both finished at 39, with Lawler’s 40 completing a top-four Northstars sweep. Nate Bustin helped out, shooting 46.
C-NS Green lost, 220-227, to Fayetteville-Manlius White last Monday at Woodcrest, where Mike DeGroat and Brandon Marchitto both shot 44, which two Hornets equaled and two others (Parker Kaczorowski and Grant Rhyde) topped with 43. Colin Nichols had a 45 as Gavin Nichols and Ethan Hanson both posted 47.
Liverpool challenged F-M Green last Monday at Foxfire, and the Warriors lost, 207-216, to the Hornets.
Brady Michaud’s 41 was fourth behind the F-M trio of Will Kettell (38), Luke Weisiger and Dan Stark (40 each). Joe Sacco finished with a 42, equaled by Jack Antshel, with Alex Kirkby and Owen Michaud both shooting 44 and Bradley Cole getting a 45.
When Liverpool faced C-NS Green Wednesday at Foxfire, the Warriors prevailed 221-232, with Owen Michaud’s 38 the low round by five shots over Brady Michaud.
Jake Berthoff had a 44, with Isaiah Issakainen adding a 45 and Aaron Clouthier a 51. Brady Miltello led the Northstars with a 44 and Nichols added a 45, while Brandon Marchitto shot 48.
This busy week continued with Liverpool offering its own challenge to first-place Baldwinsville last Thursday afternoon, the Warriors falling 184-214 to the Bees.
Sacco led his side with a 41. Cole had a 43, edging Brady Michaud (44) as Berrthoff and Owen Michaus both pospted 44. B’ville had five players shoot 38 or lower, with Keegan Lynch’s 35 the top total.
