ONONDAGA COUNTY – Few area high school boys golf teams have proven able of sweeping both the regular-season and post-season titles up for grabs each fall.
Cicero-North Syracuse Blue aimed to change that trend after the Northstars made it through most of its Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division slate without a defeat.
Only in last Friday’s battle against Fayetteville-Manlius Green did C-NS Blue finally suffer a defeat, and even that was a close one as the Hornets edged the Northstars 197-200, though both beat F-M White’s total of 230.
Over nine holes at Lakeshore Country Club, Jack Wolanski had a 38, with Riley Rumble adding a 39. Sean Lawler managed a 40, Carter Costello had 41 and Jake Nardozza shot 42.
To pull it out, F-M Green had Velton Perry shoot a 37, with Luke Weisiger adding a 39 as Jack Sommers and Jack Antshel both posted 40 and Jason Carter added a 41.

What followed, in Wednesday’s match against visiting West Genesee Gold, was one of the season’s closest calls for C-NS Blue, but again it pulled through, beating the older set of Wildcats 202-206.
Nardozza went to the top with a 38 ahead of Connor Christie’s 39 for WG Gold. Sam Thompson’s 40 equaled the Wildcats’ Joe Snyder, while Kippen and Lawler both posted 41 to match Ben Glass and Wolanski’s 42 was ahead of 43s from Max Lauricella and Eric Korzeniewski.
Liverpool was back in action on Thursday, facing Baldwinsville at Foxfire, and putting up solid scores despite taking a 189-211 defeat to the Bees.
Owen Michaud shot a 39, with Dominick Osbeck and Bradley Cole both posting 42. Kyle Kirkby had a 43 and Alex Kirkby a 45 as Aidan Farmer broke par with a 34 to lead a top-five B’ville sweep.
