LIVERPOOL – Improving to 2-1 on the season, the Liverpool girls swim team handled Thursday’s meet against West Genesee, taking a110-75 victory over the Wildcats.
As a starting point, the Warriors’ 200-yard medley relay team of Kaitlyn Thompson, Emerson Gellert, Kerry Hunter and Morgan Kenna earned first place in two minutes, 6.36 seconds, with a second Liverpool side posting 2:10.54.
Thompson went from there to a victory in the 200 individual medley in 2:34.89 and was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:54.44, just behind WG’s Allison Putnam (5;51.77), while Hunter was victorious in the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.94.
Arianna Kuznia went 2:10.83 to hold off Putnam (2:12.84) in the 200 freestyle, with Julia King getting a victory in the 100 freestyle in 1:02.38 and Domenique DeRuijter getting first place in the 100 backstroke, her time of 1:08.58 beating out Nicole Testone’s 1:11.22.
In diving, Aija McIntyre won with 178.85 points, just beating out the 178.30 from WG’s Lily Mauro. Gellert was second in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.98 to the 1:07.12 from the Wildcats’ Anna Ivery as Sarah Colwell got second place in the 50 freestyle in 27.97 seconds.
Prevailing in the 200 freestyle relay, Liverpool had Thompson, Kenna, King and Kuznia finish in 1:51.11 to WG’s 1:52.35.
Cicero-North Syracuse had its meet with Christian Brothers Academy postponed, but face Jamesville-DeWitt and Oswego next week at Nottingham as Liverpool takes on Baldwinsville Tuesday.
