ONONDAGA COUNTY – Off to a 2-1 start, the Baldwinsville girls tennis team found little difficulty improving on that mark during last week’s pair of matches.
Against Henninger last Tuesday afternoon, the Bees recorded a 7-0 shutout, not dropping a set in any of the matches.
Hannah Gould’s 6-1, 6-0 singles win over Esraa Al Masalmeh set the tone as Elaina Nesbitt took a bit longer to beat Masturah Adams 6-0, 6-4 and Alexandra Cavino blanked Hodan Ali 6-0, 6-0.
In each of the four doubles matches, B’ville did not drop a game, with Reagan Doan and Julia Quinn handling Thanh and Thanhngan Nguyen and continuing with Ayla Kalfassa and Mira Nazdan beating Kristen Nguyen and Myat Oo.
Audrey Benton and Ella Tromblee won 6-0, 6-0 over Jemima Bobelabi and Lauren Cameron, with Alex Bolton and Keegan Downes shutting out Sadiya Ahmed and Hser Nay Christ Paw.
Moving on to face Cicero-North Syracuse two days later, B’ville dominated in singles and did more than enough in doubles to handle the Northstars 6-1.
Ayla Kalfass, with her 6-0, 6-0 singles shutout of Holly Costello, began a sweep where Hannah Gould blanked Meghan Obleman and Nazdan got her own 6-0, 6-0 win over Jaila Killingbeck.
Though Benton and Tromblee lost 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Autumn Brown and Megan Mieves, Doan and Quinn turned back Eve Campitello and Megan Johnston 6-1, 6-3.
Also in two sets, Sophia Fiorentino and Isabella Iannitti topped Isabella Nolan and Ava Schiff 7-5, 6-0, with Cavino and Nesbitt pairing up in doubles for a 6-1, 6-1 romp over Alicia Tow and Mackenzie Wessels.
Now at 4-1, B’ville has matches next Tuesday against Liverpool and next Friday at West Genesee.
