Having taken a second defeat to Cicero-North Syracuse on Nov. 4 and had a game with Cazenovia canceled two days later, the Baldwinsville field hockey team still would have a busy closing stretch.
Four games in eight days got underway with a Nov. 7 date against Homer at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium, one where the Bees’ offense had its most productive effort so far in a 10-0 romp over the Trojans.
At the forefront was the duo of Rebecca Mantione and Sydney Huhtala, each of whom would secure four points as B’ville led 4-0 by halftime and went much further from there.
Emma Dugan put up two goals and one assist, with points also earned by Victoria Schultz, Paige Morrissey, Isabella Nadzan and Mary Young.
Then B’ville took on Fayetteville-Manlius last Monday night, eager to replicate its come-from-behind, 2-1 overtime victory over the Hornets back on Oct. 15.
Again, the Bees would trail, but this time not catch up in a 1-0 defeat, Maddy Duggleby’s unassisted goal holding up thanks to a defense that limited B’ville to four shots, all stopped by Claire Grenis.
Bouncing back on Wednesday afternoon against Liverpool, the Bees broke up the Warriors’ late-season four-game win streak, rolling to a 4-0 victory.
And it was Mantione at the forefront during B’ville’s first-half surge, twice converting goals and adding an assist as all the offense was generated in the first half.
Victoria Schultz had one goal and one assist, while Emma Hollenbeck earned a goal. Assists were also credited to Morrissey and Mia Kuzdzal.
