For the most part, weather had cooperated in late September and early October for area high school boys golf teams to fit in most of their matches.
Westhill had gone 10-0 against Onondaga High School League foes and would test itself against a Salt City Athletic Conference power when it met Baldwinsville last Tuesday at Timber Banks.
The Warriors lost, 198-217, but Anthony Maglisco did take individual honors with a 37 for nine holes, one ahead of the 38 by the Bees’ Aidan Farmer.
Five B’ville golfers shot 41 or lower, ahead of the 43 by Westhill’s Aidan Ryan. Michael Britt had a 45, with Luke Gilmartin and James Hunt each posting 46.
Returning to league action 24 hours later, the Warriors and Christian Brothers Academy staged a tight battle at Camillus Golf Club, but Westhill pulled it out 216-219 over the Brothers.
Maglisco’s 39 was one better than Ryan and CBA’s Joe Nicholson. It took a 44 from Gilmartin, a 45 from Britt and a 48 from Devin Young to fend off the Brothers, who got solid rounds from Jack MacLachlan (41) and Dan Angelo (42).
Back in action on Thursday, Skaneateles hosted Tully and LaFayette, with the Lakers taking a 229-231 defeat to the Black Knights, its first loss of the season, though it did defeat the Lancers, who finished at 297.]
Following it up on Friday, Skaneateles beat Chittenango 223-278, with Tynan Jones shooting a 41 behind the Bears’ Tyrus Kelly (40), but helped by Shawn Luce’s 43 and Tyson DiRubbo’s 44. Will Cowden had a 47 and Drew Henderson posted a 48.
As for Jordan-Elbridge, it took a 199-234 defeat to CBA last Tuesday at Drumlins. Colin Jewsbury shot a 43 to lead the Eagles, tied for fourth place behind a CBA trio led by Nicholson, who tore his way to a 34. Jeremy Meili had a 44, with Wade Brunelle (46), Caleb DeCola (48) and Jacob Lawless (54) behind him.
West Genesee had both of its teams in action, including its top Gold team against Cicero-North Syracuse Blue Wednesday afternoon, which resulted in a 193-203 defeat.
Liam O’Connor and Ryan McLane both shot 40, with 41s offered by Connor Christie, Owen Zoanetti and Max Lauricella, but six Northstars golfers broke 40 as Sean Lawler and Sam Thompson tied for top honors with 38.
WG Blue took a 193-216 defeat to C-NS Green last Tuesday at Westvale. Anthony Pirro shot 41, a number matched or bettered by five Northstars, led by Drew Kippen’s 35. Jason Clifton and Tyler Anastasio both shot 42 ahead of Max DeMass (45) and Ben Glass (46).
Moving on from this, WG Gold beat C-NS Green 191-199 Thursday at Northern Pines. Christie’s 36 was one better than Mullane, with Ryan Till getting a 38 and Eric Korzeniewski shooting 39. Cody Sigourney-Stickel earned a 41.
Then, challenging Baldwinsville Friday at Timber Banks, WG Gold got close, but lost 198-202 to the Bees.
Christie’s 38 gave him the low individual round over B’ville’s Aidan Farmer and Billy Guild (39 each), with Peyton Mullane adding a 40. Three other Bees golfers shot 40 ahead of the 41s from Zoanetti and Lauricella as Till had a 43 and Dylan Pettinelli shot 44.
