So the regular season is complete for the Baldwinsville boys swim team, a successful journey where it went 9-2, only taking defeats to Liverpool and Fayetteville-Manlius.
Now the Bees could put its full energy into preparation for the Section III championships late next week at Nottingham High School. The Class A meet is Feb. 13 and the state qualifier takes place on the afternoon of Feb. 15.
Before all this, the Bees traveled to Auburn Wednesday night and, earning its ninth win of the season, pulled away from the Maroons to prevail 84-70.
Aidan Solomon had a standout meet. In the 100-yard backstroke he finished in one minute, 6.11 seconds to edge Nick Schultz (1:06.13) by two-hundredths of a second, also helping Schultz, Bailey Ludden and John Burns take first in the 200 medley relay in 1:46.39.
Burns led a top-three sweep of the 100 butterfly, going 56.72 seconds ahead of Quinn Gruppe (1:00.34) and Tristan Miranda (1:05.99), while it was Miranda prevailing in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.11 as Alex Lamkoski (2:13.77) edged Nate Durkin (2:15.44) for second place.
In yet another 1-2-3 sweep, Harrison German beat the field in the 50 freestyle in 25.40 seconds to the 25.86 from Trevor Kantak and the 25.90 from Eric Smith.
Schultz, in 54.28 seconds, pulled away from Auburn’s Riley Fitzgerald (57.24) in the 100 freestyle as German was third and Solomon fourth. Ludden beat the field in the 500 freestyle in 5:10.22.
Pairing up, German, Gruppe, Smith and Harrison Meyers swam the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.65. Schultz, Ludden, Gruppe and Burns went 3:47.47 in the 400 freestyle relay.
