Two more indoor track and field meets held Saturday at SRC Arena featured most of the area’s teams, with West Genesee’s boys getting fourth place in the morning session and Westhill girls finishing fourth in the afternoon session.
The boys Wildcats featured Matt Bartolotta winning the 1,600-meter run in four minutes, 35.72 seconds, just ahead of Peter McMahon, who was fourth in 4:53.81. Bartolotta and McMahon helped WG finish fourth in the 4×800 relay in 9:08.36.
Ethan Petrie was fifth and Joe Parisi sixth in the 3,200-meter run, with Chris Moser fifth in the 600-meter run and Connor Scott fifth in the 300-meter dash.
WG’s girls earned a fifth-place finish in the morning session, aided by Sandy Gardino, Abby Kuppinger, Mikeayla DeJesus and Caitlin Mills finishing second (1:52.06) to Institute of Technology Central (1:51.23) in the 4×200 relay.
The Wildcats were third in the 4×400 relay in 4:27.12 and fourth in the 4×800, with Sandy Gardino fourth in the 55-meter dash in 7.84 seconds and Olivia Becker fourth in the 55 hurdles in 9.93 seconds. Riley Flynn took fourth place in the 300 and Alexis Rydelek finished fifth in the shot put.
Marcellus had 27 points in the boys morning session, with Matt Stearns clearing 8 feet 6 inches in the pole vault to finish second.
Jonah Kwasnowski earned fifth place in the 55 sprint, while Kevin Donath got sixth place in the 1,000, Peter McCaffrey was sixth in the triple jump and Ryan White was seventh in the 55 sprint. The Mustangs finished fifth in the 4×200.
The Marcellus girls were sixth in the 4×400 as Brielle McShane finished sixth in the 600 and Anella Bolster sixth in the 1,500 and triple jump.
Moving to the afternoon session, Westhill’s girls gained 55.5 points for its fourth-place finish, while Solvay was eighth with 25 points, mostly from Isabella Lambert finishing second (30′ 1/2″) and Allison Dooher third (29’11 3/4″) in the triple jump.
The Warriors were fourth in the 4×200 in 2:07.06, fourth in the 4×400 in 4:46.11 and fourth in the 4×800 in 11:56.83, with Colleen Patrie fourth in the shot put with 26’3 1/2″, ahead of Solvay’s Sophia Guadagnolo (sixth) and Emily Britton (seventh).
Corine Allen tied for third in the high jump as she and Abigail Cottrell both cleared 4’3″, with Allen clearing 7’6″ in the pole vault for fourth place.
Also, Allen got fifth place in the triple jump, while Za’Myaa Williams was sixth in the 55 sprint and sixth in the 55 hurdles ahead of Caitlyn McIntyre in seventh place as Bishop Ludden’s Sarah Thompson was fifth in the 1,000.
Solvay’s boys team earned 29 points, 10 of them from Cole Bagozzi winning the 55 sprint in 6.90 seconds over a trio of Liverpool sprinters and another 10 from X’Zavier Morris earning a winning weight throw of 38’2 3/4″ as Bagozzi, Morris, Trevor Lee and Allen Cawthon were second in the 4×200 in 1:42.64.
