If the battle for SCAC Metro division and Section III Class AA supremacy in boys golf ends up between Fayetteville-Manlius and Baldwinsville, both sides will have reason to feel they can win it.
The Hornets won 186-195 when these teams first met Aug. 29 at Woodcrest, but in the rematch last Wednesday at Timber Banks, it was the Bees finishing in front, handing F-M its first defeat of the season by a score of 188-191.
Three players tied for individual honors as the Hornets’ Adam Butch and Matt LaCombe joined B’ville’s Aidan Farmer as they each posted even-par scores of 36 for nine holes.
Andrew Heyman had a 39, with Velton Perry and Jed Donohue each shooting 40 and Mike Millimaci adding a 41. But B’ville had five golfers break 40 as, behind Farmer, Alex Pompo got a 37, with Tanner Glavin and Nate MacGregor both shooting 38 and Anthony Petragnani finishing with a 39.
Another close match followed on Thursday, but F-M won it, edging Cicero-North Syracuse’s Blue team 198-201 at Lakeshore Country Club.
Heyman and Millimaci both shot 39, tying the Northstars’ Brian Pellegrino. Butch, Perry and Enzo Abbruzese each finished at 40, which was needed since D.J. Villnave and Jake Nardozza both posted 40 for C-NS Blue ahead of 41s from Darin Townsend and Austin Alberici.
Before this, F-M Green beat its F-M White counterparts 187-212, led again by Perry, whose 35 edged Adam Butch by one stroke.Bailey had a 38, with LaCombe and Jack Sommers both shooting 39 to match the round from F-M White’s Tobey Schulman.
Then F-M White lost 184-199 to West Genesee a day later at Westvale. Duggleby’s 36 was just one behind the Wildcats’ Kevin McDermott as Andrew Ahn and Luke Weisiger each shot 40, Carter had a 41 and Hanlon a 42.
F-M White had a 205-223 defeat to C-NS Blue last Monday as Schulman shot a 43. Andrew Ahn and Anthony Ahn each posted 44 ahead of Duggleby (45) and Carter (47).
The scoring was low in Friday’s match at Woodcrest as F-M White challenged Liverpool, but lost 198-204 as Weisiger and Anthony Ahn both shot 39, with Schulman adding a 41, but the Warriors got 35s from Spencer Baum and Dylan Husted.
Christian Brothers Academy was riding a long win streak until last Monday’s home match against Westhill at Drumlins, where the Brothers were upended by the Warriors 205-209.
Joe Nicholson won individual honors with a 36 as Dan Angelo’s 39 matched that of Westhill’s Anthony Maglisco and Aidan Ryan. But Luke Gilmartin’s 40 was Westhill’s third-best total, contrasting the 44 from James Stanton, while Mike Santoro and Jack McLaughlin both shot 45 and Devin Young’s 46 helped the Warriors hang on.
The struggles continued last Wednesday as CBA fell again, this time 223-231 to Mexico. Dan Angelo’s 40 beat Pete Scuderi and Harry McLain, who both posted 45, but no one else broke 50 as Connor Revette, Ryan Mosher and Nate Burrows each shot 42 for the Tigers.

Jamesville-DeWitt entered the week 6-0, and then made it seven matches in a row last Monday afternoon by claiming a 195-206 decision over the Auburn Maroons at Drumlins.
Julian Galletta had his best round of the season for the Red Rams, his 36 tying Auburn’s Ross Burgmaster for individual honors. Then Punn Chittaratlert put up a37, with Tyler Brang shooting a 40, Peter Hatton earning a 41 and Trey Jacobson shooting 42.
Then J-D moved to 8-0 in a tense match against Oswego 24 hours later, the Red Rams seeing Hatton return to the forefront in a 203-208 win over the Buccaneers.
Hatton’s 36 and Chittaratlert’s 39 were both ahead of 40s by Oswego’s Neil Roman and Ryan Bartlett. With every other Bucs score between 42 and 44, J-D needed a 41 from Brang, a 43 from Galletta and a 44 from Tanner Burns to hang on.
J-D’s 196 on Thursday beat out Cortland’s 205 and Syracuse City’s 262. Hatton led this time with a 36, one head of Chittaratlert, while Burns had a 40, Galletta a 41 and Essex Glowaki a 42.
As for East Syracuse Minoa, it won, 216-232, over Central Square last Monday at the Links at Erie Village. Dan Sitnik shot a season-best 38, with David Griffith and Joe Pacheco each posting 42. Three others – Alex Leo, Owen White and Zach Johnson – each shot 47.
A close match with Auburn followed last Wednesday, with the Spartans falling 218-222 to the Maroons. Sitnik shot 42, one ahead of Griffith’s 43 as Johnson had a 45, one better than Leo and Pacheco. Ross Burgmaster and Christian Hogan led Auburn, each posting 41.
