Next Tuesday morning, area high school girls golfers teed off at Kanon Valley Country Club in the Section III championships, having made it through a regular season full of early starts and late stops.
And many of these sides will arrive with regular-season and league tournament titles in the books following Wednesday’s action.
The Salt City Athletic Conference Empire Division tournament took place at the Pompey Club, and Jamesville-DeWitt climbed to the top of the standings, its 421 just ahead of Oswego’s 432 as East Syracuse Minoa Blue was third with 466.
No one could catch the Red Rams’ Lena Jones atop the individual ladder, her 18-hole score of 94 nine shots clear of teammate Sophia Ferris, who tied Oswego’s Elyse Mannicia for second place at 103.
J-D pulled away behind a 113 from Eden Shiomos and a 114 from Madeline Ferris as ESM Blue saw Erica Garm tie for sixth place thanks to a round off 111.
That same day at Woodcrest, the Onondaga High School League championships featured five teams, and Christian Brothers Academy went to the top with a team total of 452, well clear of runner-up Marcellus and its total of 481.
Individually, CBA’s Aubrey Mills took the medalist honors, her 18-hole score of 103 two shots ahead of Marcellus’ Kendall Koloski and Grace Alexander.
Four of the top seven spots went to the Brothers as Isabella Meade had a 111 to tie for fourth place, while Annie Kilmartin and Maddy Formikell shared sixth place, each posting 125.
Bishop Grimes tied Cazenovia for fourth place with 550, the Cobras led by Raquel McDonald, whose round of 125 left her alone in eighth place.
Staying unbeaten in the SCAC Metro division, Fayetteville-Manlius put away Cicero-North Syracuse Green 173-262 last Wednesday at Northern Pines, with Bailey Wallace shooting 39 and Lucy Fowler adding a 41. Justine Burness had a 46 and Michaela Papa had a season-best total of 47.
Rain had halted most activity early last week. Before that, J-D won again when all of the SCAC Empire division teams gathered on May 9 at Butternut Creek. J-D shot 153, well clear of Central Square and Oswego (174 each), while ESM Blue was fourth with 181 and ESM Orange was sixth with 190.
Jones won another individual title, her 32 three strokes ahead of t Kelli Palumbo’s 35. Shiomos and Madeline Ferris tied for sixth place with 43, while Sophia Ferris shared ninth place with 44. Tracey Edson finished with a 50.
ESM Blue had Helaina Scolaro part of that large tie for sixth place with 43 as Isabelle Chvoustie paced ESM Orange, her 44 one of six golfers to post that score.
Garm, Hannah Johnson, Maggie Saunders and Jessica Carhart each shot 44, with Giavanna Vito adding a 48. Natalie Shields had a 47 for ESM Orange ahead of Angelina Polcaro (49), Mackenzie Roberts, Riley Murphy (50 each) and Bella Sylvester (52).
CBA also won a 220-281 league match over Westhill, with Mills again at the forefront thanks to a 48 as Kilmartin shot 52. Meade finished with a 55 and Formikell had a 61.

In boys golf, Manlius-Pebble Hill got a 30 from Johnny Gruninger and a 33 from Grant Lewis at McConnellsville Golf Club during last Wednesday’s 209-305 victory over Altmar-Parish-Williamstown. Tommy Wildhack shot a 46, while Gavin Cardamone had a 47.
Bishop Grimes had Charles Falgiatano shoot a 34 in Friday’s match against Jordan-Elbridge, but the Cobras still lost, 228-237, to the Eagles, who had five players shoot 47 or lower. Josh Kuchinski had a 42 for Grimes as Colby Evans added a 49.
