Weather continued to cooperate enough to have area high school boys tennis teams get in a series of matches both inside and outside their respective leagues.
Already with a win on its ledger from the week before, West Genesee made it 2-0 by handling Homer 5-0, the shutout preserved when Noah Ruston, in third singles, got a third-set tie-breaker to edge Adam Brown 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.
Otherwise, James Plunkett fought past Ben Herman 6-4, 6-4, with Matt Mannara getting a 6-4, 6-2 win over Spencer Rusnyiak. In doubles, Stefan Atanasov and Ryan Joyce got past Raymond Meng and Sean Powers 6-4, 6-1, just as Max Mekker and Ben Paoli blanked Tommy Britt and Ryan Cough 6-0, 6-0.

Ruston handled Lukas Capstraw 6-1, 6-1, with Ryan Joyce stopping Austin Grosso 6-1, 6-0. Mannara and Plunkett played doubles, topping Logan Foster and Ethan Westfall 6-1, 6-1 as the teams of Atanasov-Mekker, David Puma-Michael White and Dan Good-Ty Lisi each had straight-set wins, too.
Marcellus opened with a match against Onondaga last Monday afternoon, where a singles sweep made the difference in a 3-2 victory over the Tigers.

The same thing happened for Marcellus in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over LaFayette, all the points from singles.
Kammer got another 6-0, 6-0 win, this one against Kaleigh Danaher, as Barbaro beat Hunter Martorella by those same scores and Guerrina stopped Dante Friedman 6-1, 6-2. The doubles teams of Grashof-Spanfeiner and Fox-Szalach both lost in two sets.
Westhill played last Monday against Manlius-Pebble Hill, and were helped by claiming both doubles points as it beat the Trojans by that same 3-2 margin.
Jackson Bradley, paired with Ryan Rolince, handled J.J. Braverman and Harry Xu 6-1, 6-2, just as D.J. Caloia and Kyle Hagrman worked past Alex Fung and Matt Roberson 6-2, 6-0.
Needing only one point in singles after Mike Ferrara and Dan Ferrara took defeats, Tom Chaddock earned it for the Warriors by rallying from an early deficit to stop Charlie Mann 5-7, 6-2, 6-0.
Skaneateles took on Homer last Monday afternoon, right before West Genesee faced them, and lost, 4-1, to the Trojans, the only point earned in doubles when Chris Burgher and Jack Panaschi defeated Meng and Powers 6-3, 6-1.
Up in singles, the Lakers’ Duncan Raddant lost in three sets to Brown 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, with Nate Fouts and Andrew Neumann taking straight-set defeats. Sam Gadjo and Luke Lynn fell to Cough and Jake Camp 6-3, 7-6.
Now Skaneateles faced Cazenovia Wednesday, absorbing another 4-1 defeat to those other Lakers. Fouts and Neuman got the point this time, topping Dan Gavilondo and Teddy Williams 7-5, 6-3.
In the other doubles match, Burgher and Panasci were two games from victory, but could not quite get there in a 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 loss to Teddy Coughlin and Liam Flannery, while Raddant, Lynn and Trevor Knupp all lost straight-set singles decisions.
The skid ended with Thursday’s 5-0 shutout of LaFayette, with Lynn blanking Martorella 6-0, 6-0, Raddant beating Mason Shute 6-1, 6-2 and Knupp handling Friedman 6-2, 6-1.
