Various weather interruptions meant that the Cazenovia ice hockey team would have a busy regular-season homestretch, with four games in a nine-day span.
In the first of those contests, the Lakers went to Fulton last Tuesday night, and while productive, Cazenovia didn’t quite do enough and lost a 5-3 decision to the Red Raiders.
J.D. Speer had a goal, as did James LeFever and Dominic Paglia, with Andrew Parkhurst earning a pair of assists. Speer, Dylan McCrink and Dan Scholl had one assist apiece.
Between them, Owen Bailey and Logan Palmer had 18 saves, but Fulton got a three-goal hat trick from Derek Schumaker as Pat Galvin and Eric Shear also found the net for the Red Raiders.
Two nights later, back at the Morrisville State IcePlex, Cazenovia was set to host Fayetteville-Manlius, fresh off a big 2-1 road win at Rome Free Academy earlier in the week. At 12-4-1, the Hornets are enjoying one of the finest seasons in the program’s brief history.
But the chilly temperatures and wind chills that closed school also postponed this game, causing further havoc with the Lakers’ late-season schedule.
If things hold, Cazenovia would, aside from making up the F-M game, host Mohawk Valley on Tuesday, go north to face Ontario Bay on Thursday and finish the regular season Saturday hosting Watertown IHC.
