Continuing to show its steady growth, the Cazenovia boys cross country team took on Altmar-Parish-Williamstown last Wednesday afternoon and put together an 18-45 victory over the Rebels.
It was Jared Smith pulling away to win the individual race for the Lakers, his time of 19 minutes, four seconds more than half a minute ahead of Noah DeRochie, who was second in 19:39.
After Alex Currie got third place for APW in 20:02, Cazenovia swept the rest of the top 10, Jake Buckley leading that group as he worked his way to fourth place in 20:12.
Zach Wendel got fifth place in 20:22, edging out Stan Angus, who was sixth in 20:24. That finished the scoring column, but the Lakers had much more ahead.
Ben McPherson led the next Cazenovia pack, his seventh-place time of 21:33 just ahead of Chris Stevens (21:35) and Torin Monahan (21:36) as Aiden Coffey finished 10th in 21:47. The Lakers face Marcellus this Wednesday afternoon.
