Boys swim Bees improve record to 6-2

Improving to 6-2 on the season, the Baldwinsville boys swim team hosted the combined Pulaski-Sandy Creek side last Wednesday night, and prevailed by a 48-39 margin.

Each of the Bees’ top swimmers took turns winning individual events, starting in the 200-yard freestyle, where Ryan Hiltbrand finished in one minute, 58.09 seconds to take the top spot.

Right after, Brandon Formoza went 2:21.20 to claim the 200 individual medley, while in the 50 freestyle Nick Schultz beat the field with his time of 24.03 seconds.

A close 100 freestyle race saw Alex Hiltbrand swim to victory in 49.42 seconds over John Licciardello, who was second in 51.87 seconds. Bailey Ludden won the 500 freestyle in 5:20.42 as John Burns got first place in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.09.

Later in the meet, though the points didn’t count, Schultz had the quickest 100 backstroke time of 1:05.77 as Licciardello went 1:13.05 in the 100 breaststroke.

Schultz, Ryan Hiltbrand, Quinn Gruppe and Aidan Solomon swam the 200 medley relay in 1:56.17. Formoza, Licciardello, Alex Hiltbrand and Jamus Socker went 1:39.50 in the 200 freestyle relay as Ludden, Formoza, Burns and Hiltbrand swam the 400 freestyle relay in 3:47.01.

With last Friday’s match at Fulton snowed out, B’ville would be at home Tuesday to take on the combined Syracuse City team.
