Now it was time for the Jordan-Elbridge and Marcellus boys lacrosse teams to find some good form, or risk not seeing the post-season.
The Eagles took a necessary step in last Tuesday’s 17-6 victory over Manlius-Pebble Hill, doing most of the damage in an 8-0 surge through the first quarter as it eventually built a 17-4 lead through three periods.
Hunter Brunelle led J-E with five goals and one assist, while Dylan Dunham had three goals and three assists. Jacob Schwarting and Colby Falcone also scored three times, Schwarting getting two assists and Falcone one assist as Luke Pinckney had a goal and three assists. Dale Wagner and Ethan Fraser had the other goals.
While J-E rested, Marcellus tried to get going in Thursday’s game against LaFayette, and outplayed the Lancers for most of the night, but paid for a terrible start in a 13-9 defeat.
LaFayette bolted out to a 5-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Then it matched every Marcellus attempt to catch up as the trio of Ian Evans, Roman Reiss and Evan Spratt each scored three times, with Evans adding three assists.
On the Mustangs’ side, Gabe VanOrder led with two goals and one assist. Matt Connell also scored twice, while Matt Reich, Shane Rohe and Liam Tierney each had one goal and one assist. Sam Rice had the other goal. Dan Cusick and Rob Seeley combined to make 15 saves.
J-E returned to action on Friday, at Central Square, and netted eight goals in the first quarter on the way to a 16-10 victory over the Redhawks, ultimately seeing six different players find the net more than once.
Dunham and Falcone both finished with three goals and two assists. Hunter Brunelle also scored three times, with Wagner getting two goals and two assists. Schwaring and Jacob Brunelle matched that two-goal output and Chris Ryan earned three assists. Mason Barrigar also picked up a goal.
