EASTERN SUBURBS – Even during a rainy morning, the annual Easter Egg Hunts organized by the villages of East Syracuse, Fayetteville and Minoa went off without a hitch this past weekend.
On Saturday, April 16—the day before Easter—kids of all ages joined in on the scramble to find the special egg with candy inside. After that bit of fun, some stopped to take pictures with the Easter Bunny in anticipation of the coming holiday.
The events took place at Ellis Field Park in East Syracuse, inside the pole barn at Lewis Park in Minoa, and on the covered Fayetteville Senior Center porch dedicated in honor of Donna and Henry McIntosh.
“Telling by the number of people that came out, a little bit of rain in Central New York isn’t gonna slow anything down,” said Michael Small, the deputy mayor of Fayetteville.
The prior weekend, East Syracuse’s parks and recreation department held a “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny” event at the Heman Street Apartments.
Breakfast on April 9 included pancakes, sausages, eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee along with crafts and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny.
Select families were also gifted free eight-pound, bone-in hams to serve with their Easter dinners.
