TOWN OF LYSANDER – The Nov. 5 election will see two candidates vie for a councilor seat in the town of Lysander to fill a vacancy on the board. Below are candidates’ responses to a questionnaire sent by the Messenger.
Ken Christopher (Democrat)
1. Why are you the ideal candidate?
I grew up in a small town that is in many ways very similar to Lysander. I live in Radisson with my wife and two children. I have been a practicing attorney and successful business owner for 16 years. I am a skilled negotiator, and I understand how to create and execute a budget, how to create plans for actions and see them through and how to plan for unforeseen circumstances. I have served and continue to serve on charitable foundation boards that require much of the same skills as serving on our town board. I believe my background and experience make me uniquely qualified for this position.
2. Why are you running?
I bring an equal combination of youth and experience to provide some new perspective to the town board. My goal is to continue the progress that has made Lysander a great place to work, live and raise a family. I want to give the voters of our town a choice in this election and be a voice for those who seek to be heard.
3. What are the most important issues and what would you do about them?
Lysander’s main issues are good ones to have. People want to live here! They want to enjoy our beautiful neighborhoods and excellent school district. My vision is growing our town in an intelligent way that provides the needed infrastructure and housing to support those who would want to start a business here or call our town their home. I think there can be an appropriate balance that brings new housing and business options into our community while preserving the beautiful landscapes that we all enjoy. I hope to earn your vote and serve our community as Lysander Town Councilor!
