BALDWINSVILLE — Female Charitable Society’s medical loan closet on River Street will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 12, through Monday, Oct. 18, while the parking lot is being rebuilt. The closure will be in place for both 10 River St. as well as 12-14 River St. Both properties are used for the loan closet program.
The facility will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at which time it will close and not reopen until regular hours resume at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19.
More than 3,000 pieces of equipment are included in the program which lends home medical equipment to any resident of the Baldwinsville Central School District. The equipment is available at no charge and may be kept as long as it is needed, after which time it is returned to be made available to others.
Safe parking immediately next to the building is essential as equipment is moved in and out. After more than two decades of use by cars, pickups, construction equipment, and even fire trucks, the existing lot is in need of a complete rebuild.
Female Charitable Society President Bonnie Kisselstein said that it is through the generosity of the Baldwinsville community that the organization has continued to serve others for the last 204 years. The loan closet program relies upon volunteers to maintain both its hours as well as keeping the equipment in safe repair. Volunteers are always welcome.
