Baldwinsville and Cicero-North Syracuse will have the high honor and distinct privilege of playing the first-ever high school ice hockey game in the Carrier Dome.
It was announced Tuesday that the Northstars and Bees will face each other Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. as the kickoff event of the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic that culminates with the Syracuse Crunch’s showdown with the Utica Comets the following evening.
“Baldwinsville is truly honored and privileged to be part of the first ever hockey game to be played in the iconic Carrier Dome,” said Baldwinsville athletic director Chris Campolieta.
“This will be a tremendous experience for our student-athletes and coaches alike. Twenty years from now our athletes will be able to say they were a part of history by participating the first-ever hockey game held in the Dome.”
C-NS athletic director Tim Bednarski shared that sentiment.
“The C-NS hockey players, coaches, and community are thrilled about playing in the first ever high school hockey game in the Carrier Dome,” said Bednarski. “This is such a great opportunity for our student-athletes and our program to be part of this historical event.”
Admission to the high school game is included in the Frozen Dome Classic ticket. Following the game between C-NS and B’ville on Nov. 21, the slate on Nov. 22 includes a charity game between Syracuse and Utica law enforcement, a collegiate matchup between SUNY Oswego and Utica College and the Crunch-Comets showdown.
This builds upon the “Frozen Frontier” event that took place last December, when the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans hosted an outdoor game at Frontier Field and included, on the slate, two days’ worth of high school games.
Tickets to the Frozen Dome Classic are on sale now and range in price from $20 to $50. Discount ticket prices are available for groups of 15 or more people. They can be purchased either in person at the Syracuse Crunch Office located at the War Memorial, the Carrier Dome Box Office or by calling (315) 473- 4444 and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
