Wendy (Clarke) and Andy Dryden spoke at the Shacksboro Museum Sunday Oct. 9 reminiscing about life in Baldwinsville.
Wendy grew up in the village next door to Gates Funeral Home. Her mother Lucille was a nurse and father Barney worked at Allied Chemical.
Wendy’s brother, Dick Clarke, is the current village mayor.
One of Wendy’s fond memories growing up in the village is the freedom they had to play and roam all day around the north end of the village without fear. She said it was a different time when people didn’t worry about the safety of their children.
Andy grew up in Phoenix and met Wendy when they were both working for Evans Chevy around 1979. Both of them got on the village board in 1993.
Andy is a former deputy mayor and mayor of the village. His stories about his work at the DPW are many, including events in the village during the flood of June 2002 and the Labor Day ice storm.
This very interesting talk can be seen in a few weeks on PAC-B TV or can be purchased directly from PAC-B for $15.
Please check pacbtv.org in about two weeks for the schedule of when the program will run.
The Shacksboro Museum is always interested in others who have lived in Baldwinsville who would like to give a talk about their life in the village. Please contact the museum if you know of anybody who may want to set up a talk, 638-2452. Our talks start again in the spring.
