The 14th Annual Syracuse “Ride for Missing Children,” which benefits the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children/NY Regional Office (NCMEC/NY), will take place from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16. Over 100 seasoned and beginner cyclists will make a 100-mile bicycle trek around Syracuse and Central New York beginning and ending at the CNY Family Sports Centre in Baldwinsville.
The NCMEC/NY Syracuse “Ride for Missing Children” is an annual fundraising event to support the organization’s efforts to recover missing children and offer free prevention education programs in schools and community groups across the Syracuse region.
Bicyclists generate pledges and then ride 100 miles around Syracuse, Onondaga County and Central New York stopping at elementary schools along the route to raise awareness about missing and exploited children’s issues. All proceeds go to the local NCMEC/NY Branch to help support abduction and sexual exploitation prevention education programs in the community and the mission of NCMEC/NY in bringing missing children home.
Special tributes will be included in the Ride this year to memorialize Jenni-Lyn Watson and Maddox Lawrence. Family members from both will be present throughout the event and the Riders will pay silent tribute to both at designated stops along the ride route.
