To the editor:
Thank you to all who made the Fayetteville tree lighting a fun-filled event. Karen, Vanessa and Lorie in the village office did most of the organizing with assistance from Recreation Director Michele Middleton. The food cooked by John Bianchini and Pete Tynan (delicious) was served by Michele and members of the Fayetteville Recreation Committee.
Working with Woody, the horse provider, in aiding people getting on the wagons were Village Trustees Dennis Duggleby, Chris Randall and Mike Small. Mike also served as emcee, introducing Senior Center Director Janet Best, and then having the crowd countdown to light the tree. Then, all present gave a big welcome to Santa (thanks Rick) who had candy for all.
Entertaining during the evening were singers from Immaculate Conception Church, dancers from Senor Guzman’s dance studio and Kip Williams showing the Fire Department Learning Trailer. Members of the fire department provided safety when crossing the road, and the DPW provided the sound system and helped with the clean-up.
The cost for the wagon rides and the food was paid for by the Fire Department Association and the Village of Fayetteville. We hope that everyone enjoyed the village’s annual tree lighting. Happy Holidays to all!
Dan Kinsella, Trustee
