To the editor:
The first annual Fit to Be Tied 5K run and 3K walk in memory of Bob Palmer was held on May 22 in the Willow Bay Area of Onondaga Lake Park. Bob lost his battle with Amyloidosis, a very rare bone marrow disease, in October 2015. On behalf of our family and friends, I want to thank the greater Liverpool community for helping us raise over $10,000 to directly support Amyloidosis research at the Boston Medical Center’s Amyloidosis Center. We are so grateful to local sponsors, supporters and advisors, including: Nichols Supermarket, Jim’s Service Center, Regal Cinemas Destiny USA, Ballantyne Gardens, The Retreat, Wegmans (John Glenn), Impact Martial Arts and Fitness (Baldwinsville), Spaghetti Warehouse, Subway (Old Liverpool Road), Stones Throw Farm, Kristi Johnson (Onondaga County Parks EMS), Fleet Feet Sports, Onondaga Lake Park, Dos Hombres, Rachel Vaughn and David Oja. We are also so thankful for our 22 race volunteers, 200 participants and everyone who donated their time and money so generously. We are already looking forward to next year’s second annual Fit to Be Tied race in May 2017!
