LIVERPOOL — Here comes October, and the Liverpool Public Library staff has put together an event schedule full and fitting for fall.
The LPL partners with Help Me Grow Onondaga for the new program for parents, Books, Balls and Blocks. Meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Carman Community Room to learn about the five stages of childhood development and discover low-cost activities you can share with your children at home. Registration is needed on the calendar page of our website.
That’s not the only new program designed for families and kids for October. Sensory Bins for Toddlers allows exploration of textures, shapes and colors with 18-month to 3-year-olds, at 10 a.m. each Wednesday of the month in the Carman Community Room. Meet Edison provides children 8-12 the chance to tinker with our new Edison Robots technology, as the little ‘bots respond to light, sound and obstacles. Meet Edison runs at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in Studio @LPL. Money as You Grow teaches parents and caregivers about marking children’s money milestones at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in the Carman Community Room. Registration is required for these programs.
There are a pair of new programs for teens. Teen LGBTQIA+ Club invites teens to meet for National Coming Out Day to celebrate who they are together, at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in Studio @ LPL. The Teen Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in Studio @ LPL. Teens can read whatever book they choose, and talk about their choices and share suggestions with others. Registration is required for the book club.
The annual Flu Clinic with Wegmans returns inside after last year’s drive-through experience in our underground garage. Workers will be ready to administer shots from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in the Carman Community Room. Most insurance plans are accepted; bring your card and they’ll do the work for you at the clinic. The price otherwise is $39.99. Register on the calendar page of our website, at LPL.org/events.
“The Art Forger” will bring together fans of the book of that name by B.A. Shapiro and “This Is Robbery” on Netflix to discuss the mysterious caper at the Isabela Steward Gardner Museum in 1990. There will also be a virtual tour of the museum during the event, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the Carman Community Room. Please register to attend.
For programs that need registration, please go to our website calendar page at lpl.org/events/programs-and-events/events-calendar/. More great events during October can be found at that page as well.
