What have you been curious about lately?
Would you care to try out a musical instrument without buying or renting? Take a deeper dive into the digital world? Venture out to a park or museum?
The Liverpool Public Library has an answer. Your world can be expanded by checking out an item from the Library of Things.
The rack in the middle of the main room shows how many cool things are available to check out. If the DVD-style case or hang-card is there, the items itself will be ready to be handed over by the staffer after the checkout process at the Information @ LPL desk. A green card signals that it’s not available.
You can also check on the catalog search page at LPL.org. If they are not available, they can be placed on hold.
Just like the books, DVDs and CDs, all of these kits and unique items are free.
The travel bug can be scratched by a trio of three-day passes. The Explore Outdoors pass allows free admission to five popular parks and the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The Empire Pass earns vehicle entry into the 128 New York State Parks. The Corning Museum of Glass pass yields adult entry into the popular museum.
Technology kits include the popular Tech Backpacks, which include a Chromebook and Hotspot. And there’s far more: A Widescreen Roku LT to allow viewing of many channels as long as you have the internet, video conversion kits, film-to-digital kits, family history kits, Google Cardboard for virtual reality, and a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
Musical instruments available include a ukulele, guitar, accordion, bongos and keyboard.
Checkout time limits vary.
Learning possibilities seem endless.
