Seven nonprofit organizations in the Central New York region were selected to receive Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s Community Health Awards. Canton Woods Senior Center was chosen to receive a 2016 Community Health Award. Our plan is to install a hydration station (including a water fountain and bottle filling station), and provide educational information on the health benefits of proper hydration to help improve the health of senior participants.
On Thursday, April 28, Chef Barbara Moul of Simply Delectable returns to Canton Woods. Chef Moul is one of our favorite guest presenters. Canton Woods Summer Entertainment series got off to a great start with the Diaries of Adam and Eve! The fun continues with music by George Leija on at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5. Make a reservation and stay for lunch at noon, featuring a special menu for Cinco de Mayo.
In addition to special events, our regular daily schedule offers an ever-expanding range of activities. Due to its popularity, Adult Coloring is now scheduled twice a week, 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Friday mornings. Bring your own supplies if you have them or we will provide some basic materials.
If you are due for your AARP Defensive Driving Class, call the center at 638-4536 to sign up. The next class is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12.
Senior Nutrition. You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation (638-4536) and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $2.75.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Friday May 6, honey sesame roasted pork loin, caramelized onion gravy, candied sweet potatoes, four-way mixed vegetables, diced pears and fresh-baked whole wheat dinner roll. Make your reservation and join us for a delicious lunch.
