Election day is creeping closer, and the candidates are seeking votes. We have noticed numerous political signs popping up all over the greater Cazenovia area and, as we always do, the Republican will run profiles of the candidates in contested elections.
In this week’s issue, readers will find information on the three candidates for Cazenovia Town Board: Kristi Andersen, Pat Race and Pat Vogl. Each one answered identical questionnaires from the Republican, and their responses are printed in the paper and on our website. They share their positions on issues important to the town, such as the possibility of town/village consolidation, lake health and economic development. They were also given an opportunity to explain why they are the best candidate for the position and deserve your vote.
Next week, we plan to run profiles of the three candidates seeking the Nelson town highway superintendent position — Timothy P. Kent, Ronald Richardson and Joseph E. Deyo, Jr. — as well as the two candidates seeking election as Madison County sheriff — John Ball and Todd Hood.
We remind our readers that this Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cazenovia Public Library, the League of Women Voters of Cazenovia is holding a candidate forum for the candidates for Madison County clerk, Madison County sheriff, and Cazenovia town board. Attendees will not only hear the candidates in their words, but also will have a chance to ask specific questions of each candidate.
In the spirit of public service, we would also like to inform our readers that Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County (CCE) is looking for volunteers to join its board of directors. The organization is looking for “diverse Madison County residents with experience in fund development, human resources, marketing, agriculture, youth development, education or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math),” they have announced.
If you can contribute your time, expertise and leadership one evening per month, and are interested in exploring this opportunity, email a short application to Debbie Seguin ([email protected]) by Oct. 27, or call Debbie at 315 684 3001 ext. 107.
