JAMESVILLE-DEWITT CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT – Visitors to Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District’s athletic fields near Lyndon Corners and on the J-D High School campus will soon have more room to park.
In December 2019, district residents approved a $33 million capital project that includes work across the district that will improve energy efficiencies, modernize instructional spaces and improve health and security measures.
In addition to projects in the district’s schools, site work is taking place at the district’s Lyndon Fields and on the road leading to the district’s bus garage, which is on the J-D High School campus.
Both projects will increase existing parking for district athletic fields.
At Lyndon Fields, the current parking lot will be expanded to accommodate an additional 70 parking spaces. That work is expected to be complete by the end of September.
The fields are used by district athletic teams, such as boys and girls soccer, baseball and softball, and recreation leagues, such as JD Little League Softball and JDYAA Youth Football and Youth Boys and Girls Lacrosse, as well as Town of DeWitt summer camps.
The driveway off of Edinger Drive that leads to the district’s bus garage will be widened to accommodate two lanes of bus traffic as well as 30 new parking spaces along the side closest to the athletic fields.
Currently, there are no designated parking spots along the drive, and during games and the afternoon school bus runs the roadway is difficult for buses to maneuver.
That project should be done in mid-September.
