NORTH SYRACUSE — The North Syracuse Central School District has extended registration for its Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program through June 4, 2021. Additionally, beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, the district will offer the option of full-day UPK. To be eligible for the district’s UPK program, children must live in the North Syracuse Central School District and be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2021.
Enrollment in the UPK program is not done on a first-come, first-served basis. UPK applications received prior to the June 4 deadline will be placed into a lottery to be drawn toward the end of July 2021. If the UPK program fills up before all names are pulled from the lottery, the remaining students will be placed on a wait list and parents will be notified if a spot becomes available.
The district will accept UPK applications received after June 4 but those students will not be included in the lottery. Registrations taken after the lottery has been drawn will be placed on a wait list and parents will be notified if a spot becomes available. Classes will not be picked until July and letters will go out to parents on or before July 31.
Please be advised that the UPK program is funded by a state grant and is subject to the passage of the New York State budget. There will be no charge to parents.
UPK registrations will be accepted by email (to [email protected]), by mail to NSCSD, Attn: UPK, 5355 W. Taft Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212 or completed registrations can be dropped off at the District Office Building (5355 W. Taft Road, North Syracuse). In the event that a parent/guardian must come into the Registration Office, we request only one person be in attendance to minimize crowds.
