C-NS, NSJHS move to remote instruction Nov. 30-Dec. 4

Due to rising cases of COVID-19 in Onondaga County, all schools in the North Syracuse Central School District have been designated as being in “yellow zones.”

The increase in positive cases at the North Syracuse Junior High School and Cicero-North Syracuse High School has created significant challenges with staffing and contact tracing. Given these challenges, all in-person instruction at these schools will be paused the week after the holiday break. Instruction at NSJHS and C-NS will be fully remote from Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 4. All other K-7 schools will continue as normal.

During this time, the district will continue to closely monitor community spread and the impact it has on NSCSD students and staff with the intention of returning to in-person instruction at NSJHS and C-NS on Monday, Dec. 7.

The NSCSD has completed mandatory testing at Allen Road Elementary, KWS Bear Road Elementary, Roxboro Road Elementary, Roxboro Road Middle School, North Syracuse Junior High School and the North Syracuse Early Education Program (Main Street School). The district is working with the county executive’s office to schedule testing for the following schools: C-NS, Cicero Elementary, Lakeshore Road Elementary, Smith Road Elementary and Gillette Road Middle School.

Information for K-4 Families Regarding Instructional Model Changes

K-4 parents in the North Syracuse Central School District have the opportunity to switch their child’s instructional model following Trimester 1. Much time and thought has gone into this transition plan so that it is as smooth as possible. The key component to making a smooth transition is accurate information from parents. This means that the district needs 100% participation on this survey in order to accurately place every single student. The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the transition plan.
