New superintendent starts in Skaneateles
Superintendent Eric Knuth has officially taken over as leader at Skaneateles Central School District and is looking forward to continuing the excellence in education the district has developed throughout its storied history.
Knuth, who most recently served as superintendent of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District, was unanimously approved as superintendent of schools, effective July 1, by the board of education during a special meeting in March.
Board President Thomas Lambdin said the district is excited to have Knuth serve as its next superintendent, noting Knuth’s leadership skills and record of accomplishment as determining factors in the board’s decision to appoint Knuth.
“We are certainly gratified to have you here after a very inclusive search process, which really drew on the resources of our community and school system,” Lambdin said. “We are thrilled that you will be our next superintendent of schools.”
Knuth’s administrative career started with the completion of an internship serving as vice principal at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse. He then served as high school principal in Oriskany, before taking the same post in the Cazenovia Central School District. Knuth was then hired by APW Central Schools in January 2018 to serve as superintendent.
Knuth said he is honored to be a part of the Skaneateles community and cannot wait to begin working on behalf of the district’s students.
“I look forward to working collaboratively with the board of education, staff, parents and community to provide a phenomenal education to our students,” Knuth said. “My mission is to celebrate the excellent programs, activities and services that contribute to student success and outstanding pride that sets Skaneateles schools apart. I commit to modeling the character, integrity and fairness expected of your leader as we write the next great chapter in the tremendous story of the Skaneateles Central School District together.”
